Prisoners allowed to go out to put on play for children
Five convicts held at the Cricova-based Penitentiary No. 15 staged a puppet show and gave presents to the children of a Chisinau placement center. The play “Luceafarul” by Mihai Eminescu’s tale was performed by prisoners outside jail for the first time, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the press service of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, the actors-detainees created a real atmosphere of fairytale, presenting a play full of color and magic. The actors involved the children in debates and invited Santa Claus, the Snow White and the Old Crock in the scenes. A part of the presents offered to the children were toys made by prisoners.
The initiative was put forward by the team of Penitentiary No. 15 and was organized with the support of the puppet theater “Guguta” and the public associations “Viata Noua” (“New Life”) and “Eliberare” (“Liberation”).
