Prison guards fired after prison party
Two guards were fired, two were downgraded, and two others were reprimanded at Penitentiary no.9, also known as the Pruncul Prison, after an unauthorized party among the convicts led to one inmate being injured.
The Penitentiary Department said in a press release that on Saturday early morning between 00:00 and 05:00 a group of convicts held a party in one of the prison's work facility to celebrate the release of an inmate. The party turned sour following an argument and one inmate sustained head injuries in the ensuing fight.
The Department initiated an internal investigation and further sanctions could follow after the results are communicated to the General Prosecutor's Office.
