The new Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Nicolae Ciubuc aims to combat the production risks in agriculture and to increase milk production in Moldova. The official presented some of the priories of his term in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel, IPN reports.
Nicolae Ciubuc said he will focus on the combating of production risks by stimulating investments in the necessary infrastructure and in irrigation. A legal framework on the prevention and insurance of production risks should be created. “We aim to improve the system of insurance in agriculture. This was an ambitious plan launched over ten years ago, but it was compromised in time,” he stated.
The minister noted he intends to devote increased attention to the animal-breeding sector, especially the production of milk. Owing to the insufficient milk production at farms, milk made from powdered milk is sold in Moldova and this is a problem. “In the communication with the development partners, this sector will be a priority and we will try to attract a number of projects that would stimulate development in this sector,” he said.
As to the environment, Nicolae Ciubuc said among the priorities here are to bring things in order in the distribution of the resources of the national ecological fund and to continue the earlier initiated projects. “The project “Good Water for Moldova” will be one of the priorities that will generate a multitude of activities in the immediate period,” stated the minister.
