During its autumn session, the legislative body will adopt a number of bills aimed at implementing the Association Agreement with the EU, reforming the justice sector and the financial-banking sector. Head of Parliament Andrian Candu spoke about the priorities of the autumn session in a press briefing on September 10, IPN reports.
Andrian Candu said he will propose that the judges should take an integrity test and should have their property checked before being confirmed in their posts.
According to the Speaker, radical measures should be taken in relation to the financial-banking sector. The package of laws that ensures transparency in bank ownership and improves the quality of bank management will be soon finalized. Such a small country as Moldova has too many banks – 15. There should be several banks, but which would provide services of a high quality. A law of these will refer to the independence of the National Bank of Moldova.
Another priority is the reformation of the broadcasting sector. Andrian Candu said a number of laws aimed at combating propaganda were transmitted to international institutions for appraisal and are to be adopted in the coming session. One of the recommendations of the international institutions is for the authorities to promote the national audiovisual products in the Romanian language.
As regards the business environment, the Speaker said the discussions on the introduction of the so-called tax on luxury for the well-off categories will be resumed.
Among the priorities is also the passing in the final reading of the agricultural package, the creation of a working group for relations with the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia and the continuation of the dialogue with the Transnistrian administration. There will also be adopted new Regulations of Parliament as the current ones are outdated.
