The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that the printing of ballots for the June 14 local general elections begins on June 6. Rodica Sarbu, head of the Commission’s Communication Service, has told IPN that there will be printed more than 7.8 million ballots. Over 1.6 million of these will be in Russian.

The printing process starts at 4pm and will last for five days. The ballots will be printed at the Central Publishing House, the Universul Publishing House and the Printing Complex in Chisinau.

In the June 14 local elections, the voters will receive two to four ballots. Those from municipalities will vote with two ballots – for the mayor and the municipal council. Those from suburban settlements will have four ballots – for the mayor general, the municipal council, the mayor of the settlement and the local council. Those from settlements of the first level will vote with three ballots – for the mayor, local council and district council.

The electoral rolls include over 2.8 million voters.
