The relations between the authorities of Gagauzia and the constitutional authorities of Moldova depend greatly on the capital city, considers the candidate for the post of Governor of Gagauzia Ilia Anastasov. He stated for IPN that both of the sides must want to improve the situation. Now the functionaries from Comrat are not heard by Chisinau, even if they are listened to.
Ilia Anastasov also said that life in Gagauzia must be changed. The people go abroad to look for well-paid jobs and nobody wants to invest in the region because there are no attractive conditions, while the fiscal policy is not aimed at supporting the investors. Immediate measures should be taken to start businesses that will bring investments and workplaces so as to keep the region’s residents at home.
Asked about the election campaign, Ilia Anastasov said not all the candidates are put in equal conditions. Those who have more money have more chances to win because they afford to invest huge sums in promoting their image. There are also candidates who make use of the administrative resources, such as the service car, telephone and property, and measures should be taken in this respect.
The elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. After two registered candidates withdrew, the race for the post of Bashkan now includes the following contenders: Valerii Ianioglo, Ruslan Garbaly, Nicolae Dudoglo, Irina Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Alexandru Stoianoglo, Serghei Chernev, Dumitru Croitor, Ilia Anastasov, and Leonid Dobrov .
