The authorities of Chisinau municipality compiled and proposed a list of places where public events can be held. The list appeared in reaction to complains about the multiple events staged in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, which imply the closing of the area to traffic, IPN reports.

Thus, it is suggested holding running events on the road near the bridge on Soseaua Hancesti St up to the rotary of the street that leads to the Leuseni customs post and sports competition on the bridge in Telecentru quarter and on the field of the old airport of Chisinau.

Large-scale cultural events can be organized at the Exhibitions Center “Moldexpo”, “Dendrariu” Park, the Botanical Garden, Cultural Complex “Vatra”, pedestrian street “Eugen Doga”, square of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu” and the central square of Chisinau, but without closing the area to public transport and by installing protection fences on both sides of the roadway.

Protests can be mounted in all the public places requested by organizers, but without blocking streets. In case of marches, the participants will walk on one lane of the street.

National holidays could be staged in the Great National Assembly Square, but the area would be closed to transport only if need be and only in the perimeter of the streets Banulescu-Bodoni and Pushkin. This refers to such holidays as the National Flag Day, Sovereignty Day, Constitution Day, International Workers Day, Europe Day, Our Language Day, Independence Day, National Wine Day, the winter holidays and others.

Public debates on the issue will be held in the meeting hall of the Chisinau City Hall starting at 3pm on November 8. All those interested are invited to take part. The list of public places is available at http://chisinau.md/libview.php?l=ro&idc=403&id=19910&t=/Presa/Comunicate-de-presa/Desfasurarea-manifestarilor-si-intrunirilor-publice-in-municipiul-Chisinau.

The list was compiled after acting mayor general Nistor Grozavu asked to conduct an analysis of the events that were held this year in the central square of Chisinau and that required the imposition of traffic restrictions.

At the start of June, IPN carried out an opinion poll on the events held in the Great National Assembly Square among Chisinau councilors, with pros and cons. Some councilors said public events in the central square should be staged only when events of national importance are celebrated. Others said no one’s right to demonstrate in the main square of the country should be limited.
