The invalidation of the Chișinău early mayoral elections was against Moldova’s tradition and practice and against the European experience, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Peter Michalko stated on ProTV Chișinău channel.
“All the legislative and administrative tools are in the Moldovan authorities’ hands and all the possibilities should be used to respect the people’s will in elections,” he stated. According to him, the economy was stabilized, trade advanced and Moldova’s exports to the EU increased rather significantly. But the justice sector stagnates and those to blame for the theft of the US$ 1 billion are not held accountable.
Given the upcoming elections of 2019, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova said Brussels will be attentive to what is happening before and during the election campaign, on the election day and after this.
Andrei Năstase immediately took the opportunity and said that the leader of the PDM aims to exclude the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Action and Solidarity” from the upcoming parliamentary elections because he understands there are major risks and these risks were seen in the election campaign prior to the Chișinău early mayoral election. At the same time, the chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu, while polls do not find a place for the PL in the legislature, optimistically promises that his party will form a coalition with the parties that will vote for Moldova’s union with Romania in Parliament. While Tudor Deliu, the new president of the PLDM, promised his party will have “a big say” in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Not only the Europeans, which is all of us, but also China sincerely believes that Moldova will achieve big results on its path of economic and social development. Ambassador of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong stated this in a reception held to mark the 40th anniversary of the initiation of China’s reform and opening-up policy and the fifth anniversary of the start of the Belt and Road Initiative. The cooperation with Moldova in different areas during the last few years has seen positive results. This way, trade between the two states in 2017 amounted to US$ 524 million, rising by 30%. Moldova’s wine exports to China represent 12%. Also, the cooperation projects between the two sides develop successfully.
By the way, the road traffic supervision cameras form part of the Moldovan-Chinese cooperation. According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, slightly over 167,000 violations of traffic rules were logged during the first six months of this year. The fine payment level stands at 87.58%. Speeding is the most often violation. A number of 82,000 such violations were recorded in the period.
At the age of 80, composer Eugen Doga is more creative than the young ones. He held a piano recital on the platform of the railway terminal in Chișinău. “The place for such a recital is perfect. The railway station is a gate to the people. I’m glad I have the occasion of being here,” stated Eugen Doga, noting he has never played at a railway station. The master allowed “Moldova’s Railways” to play his melodies in the railway stations and trains inside the country, gaining instead the right to travel free by any train route of the company.
