Mihai Ghimpu: In Parliament we will form a coalition with those who will vote for union

The president of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said the upcoming parliamentary elections, of next February, will be difficult because they will be held based on the mixed-member electoral system. He developed the issue in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Mihai Ghimpu said that when it reaches Parliament after the next elections, the Liberal Party will form a coalition with the parties that will vote for Moldova’s union with Romania. He noted he would like the union between the Republic of Moldova and Romania to be done on December 1 this year and the parliamentary elections of February 2019 will thus not be needed.

Ion Dron, chairman of the Center of Initiatives and Public Authorities Monitoring, said the current parties of the right do not have the capacity to take over. That’s why a coalition between these is needed. “In my opinion, now everyone wants to come to power alone. In the Republic of Moldova, it is not possible for one party to hold power and alliances are needed. The alliances should consist not of two-three parties, but of more parties as when the politicians argue between them they do not have time to steal,” he stated.
