Prime Minister Pavel Filip considers the relationship between the Republic of Moldova and the United States is strategic and the support provided by the U.S. is valuable to the country. He informed U.S. officials that measures have been taken to fight corruption and to reform the justice sector, in particular to amend the legal framework. These reforms are yet implemented with difficulty.
The Premier also said the government will be making effort to ensure a democratic, free and transparent electoral process. “We are a team that has the necessary capacities and will to change things in the Republic of Moldova,” stated Pavel Filip.
On the other side, the U.S. will assist the official Chisinau in coping with the internal and external challenges, including in preventing the risks of foreign interference in the electoral process.
Dorin Chirtoacă, after getting rid of the justice of the alliance of which he formed part, said the electoral bloc ACUM should include the Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party and this would be ideal.
The Liberal leader noted the party he represents is having discussions with the PLDM, PAS and PPPDA so as to reach a compromise as to the participation in elections. “From my viewpoint, the creation of one bloc is possible up to the January 24 registration deadline,” he stated. According to him, they are considering the options, starting from one bloc formed by four parties up to the participation in the commission that will decide who and where will run.
But the IPN Experts note things on the unionist segment, of the right, are vague, while the messages are discouraging. And it happens even if about 1/3 of the registered parties plead for Moldova’s Union with Romania. Moreover, some of these parties launched pertinent calls like United for the Union! long ago. In such circumstances, the most serious reproach aimed at the dozen of unionist parties is – how do you want to unite the country if you cannot unite between you for a common objective?
An answer to the formulated question does not yet exist as the dozen of unionist parties split into at least three fragments: several discuss the cooperation with the bloc ACUM; others announced the creation of the bloc of the Euro-Unionist Convention, while the third group is still considering whether to take part in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 or to boycott them.
And something that contrasts powerfully should be raised here – the last initiative of the ruling Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM). The PDM offers us a lesson as to how the initiatives of the symbolical figures can be undertaken, learned and relaunched successfully in an electoral context. The 2009 initiative of Traian Băsescu, concerning the holding of a consultative referendum on the day of the presidential elections, which helped him attract sympathies and win, can serve as an example. The PDM recently initiated a similar referendum for February 24, 2019, simultaneously with the parliamentary elections. And the difference between the unionist parties and the PDM resides in this. The last keeps silent and does, concluded the experts.
In such conditions, the company Date Inteligente anticipates that almost half of seats of MP would be held by the PSRM, while ACUM would be the second force by the number of seats. Of the parties represented now in Parliament, only the PSRM and PDM would return to Parliament based on the general vote, while the Liberal Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the European People’s Party of Moldova would not. For the first time in the last 20 years, the PCRM could not enter Parliament under its lists. The new parties would be the PAS and PPPDA, of the bloc ACUM, the Shor Party and, eventually, the PUN with an MP.
The company announced it will weekly issue the Electoral Barometer – 2019 as of December 5 to present the most probable configuration of the new Parliament that will be elected according to the mixed electoral system. Changes will appear from one issue to another depending on the obtained information and the evens that can alter the situation in the general vote or in particular constituencies.
Minister of Agriculture Nicolae Ciubuc, in the national conference “Fruit Business in the Republic of Moldova”, said the small purchase prices of fresh fruit are due not to the rich harvest, but rather to the companies’ inability to cope with the rising production volume. Investment is needed in the post-harvest infrastructure, development of processing capacities, augmentation of productivity and extension of multiannual plantations. But the foreign investors do not hurry to invest in agriculture owing to the risks and difficult weather conditions and to the barriers at policy level.
The Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry was launched in Chisinau almost two months after 18 Moldovan companies announced their intention to found such an association. The Chamber’s president-elect Boris Foca said the organization will be a platform that will ensure better interaction between businesspeople from the two countries. The goal is to increase Chinese companies’ investments in the national economy and also trade.
New road traffic surveillance cameras will be set up in Chisinau, at the intersection of the streets Băcioii Noi with Dacia and Alba Iulia with Liviu Deleanu. Video cameras will also be installed at the exist of Stăuceni commune, on Șoseaua Muncești St and at the exit of Chisinau towards Băcioi St. As regards the video cameras on national roads, the authorities estimate these could become functional next year.
