Principal of Tiraspol Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” summoned to court

The Principal of the Tiraspol Lyceum “Lucian Blaga” Ion Iovcev was summoned to present himself at the town court on December 25. He is to present information about the salaries paid to teachers in 2013. Contacted by IPN, the principal said he will not go to the court if there is no relevant decision of the Ministry of Education of Moldova and the Reintegration Office.

Ion Iovcev said that he received two letters by which he is asked to present himself at the Tiraspol Court and at the so-called state inspectorate of Transnistria to be questioned about the complaint filed against him by a teacher of the lyceum, who said that they didn’t receive their pays for several months.

“The challenges on the part of the Transnistrian administration continue. The summons to appear at the Tiraspol Court forms part of the same scenario. They called me to court on a nonworking day intentionally,” said Ion Iovcev.

As he didn’t go to the so-called state inspectorate of Transnistria, Ion Iovcev was fined US$200 and 500 minimal salaries.

The principal said the Moldovan constitutional authorities should take attitude and seek help from the international community so as to stop the challenges in Transnistria.

There are eight Moldovan-administered, Romanian-language lyceum in Transnistria. The Transnistrian militia searched them repeatedly, arguing different protests.
