Boris Volosatyi, who topped the list of diaspora candidates for a seat on the Chamber of Deputies on behalf of the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR), was elected a member of Romania’s Parliament, IPN reports.
“I thank all the Romanians who voted for AUR, all the Romanians in Bessarabia for voting for AUR. We will not forget our promises and will represent you with honor in the Parliament of Romania. AUR will definitely enter Parliament. It will be a new political force in Romania’s Parliament and not only. The preliminary data, about 25% of the diaspora, show that we will have at least one senator from the diaspora,” Boris Volosatyi told a news conference.
Asked if he will vacate the post of principal of the Chisinau Theoretical Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi”, Boris Volosatyi said he will analyze the legal provisions and will then take a decision.
Boris Volosatyi also said that a new political force will appear in the Republic of Moldova and this will have close interaction with the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians so as to bring the same conservative-national policies to this land.
Civic activist Vlad Biletski said that AUR is a young party with free, sincere and honest people. Even if it was created only a year ago, it managed to enter Parliament. AUR will have political and civic representation in the Republic of Moldova. More details will be provided later.
According to the Romanian press, with 75.10% of the votes being counters, the results stand as following: PSD – 30%, PNL – 25%, USR – 15%, AUR – 8%, UDMR – 7%.
