Upon his return from the Russian Federation, Prime Minister Ion Chicu says that the main result of the visit is the restoration, at government level, of normal, pragmatic and mutually advantageous dialogue with one of the major economic partners of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
At a press conference held on Wednesday evening, November 20, the prime minister stated he had discussions with his Russian counterpart, Dmitri Medvedev. According to him, there are great opportunities for cooperation, so far unexplored due to the communication deficit. The official claims that in Moscow he has announced that this is a technocratic government, which will not get involved in politics.
"We have received assurances that the Government of the Russian Federation will endorse the efforts of the new Government to promote reforms, including economic ones. The Russian Federation is also interested in our progress in the justice reform. However, in the next period major private investment projects are to be launched in the Republic of Moldova and the willingness of the Russian companies to invest in our country mostly depends on the functioning of the judiciary”, the prime minister noted.
In other news, the prime minister said he had agreed to launch preparatory actions on the implementation of the initiative to destroy the ammunition stored on the territory of the Republic of Moldova in the Cobasna depots. In this regard, in the next period more details will be offered by the Russian side on the respective mechanism, which, according to the prime minister, will be a transparent one for all, including the strategic partners of the Republic of Moldova.
Ion Chicu invited his Russian counterpart to visit Moldova and his invitation was accepted. According to the prime minister, an exact date has not been set, but it will be determined later following the coordination of the agendas.
