The Moldovan rulers will be unable to receive communion. A decision to this effect was taken by the Synod of the Orthodox Church on the expiration of the term of one month given to the authorities to review the Law on the Equality of Chances, IPN reports.
“This state of affairs makes us to declare ourselves opponents and to openly separate ourselves from those that persecute the Church of Christ and to employ strictly remedial measures – the canonic tradition of excommunicating them from the Church until they make things right. Initially, the rulers will be banned communion and then, depending on repentance, will be allowed or denied definitively access to any service,” reads the statement of the Synod of the Orthodox Church of Moldova.
The Law on the Equality of Chances was passed by Parliament last May. The Church demands removing the provisions concerning the rights of the sexual minorities from this law.
