Some of the products at the Central Market of Chisinau already became more expensive, but price rises are yet expected. Vendors say this is due to the higher demand during the winter holidays, but the prices will then decrease, IPN reports.
A kilogram of pork or beef costs between 65 and 85 lei, but is projected to grow more expensive next week. Ewe milk cheese is sold for 85 lei/kg, as earlier. Cow milk cheese sells for 45 lei/kg, 5 lei up on last week. Sour cream can be bought for 40 lei/kg, up 5 lei. Ten hen eggs cost 18-20 lei.
A kilogram of imported tomatoes is sold for 30‑35 lei. Last week these sold for 25 lei on average. Cucumbers cost 35 lei/kg, domestic bell peppers 30 lei/kg, up 5 lei, while imported peppers 55-60 lei/kg. Eggplants are sold for 33 lei/kg, 1-2 lei up. Potatoes, onions, carrots and beetroots can be bought for 5 - 6 lei/kg as earlier. Cabbage for salad costs 4 lei, while for stuffed rolls 8 lei.
A bunch of green onion tops, parsley or dill remained at the price of 3 lei. Mushrooms cost 23 lei//kg, walnut kernel - 130 lei/kg and up, while dried plums between 40 and 50 lei/kg. A kilogram of pickled vegetables costs 20 to 50 lei.
A kilogram of carp can be bought for 55 lei, while of crucian carp for 35 lei and up.
The prices of fruit remained unchanged. Citrus fruit is sold for 22-35 lei/kg and up. Bananas sell for 25 lei, while pomegranates and kiwis for 35 lei/kg.
