Price of gas bought from Gazprom 3.6% down

Russia’s gas giant Gazprom informed Moldovagaz about the purchase price of the gas that will be supplied to Moldova in the first quarter of 2012. It is US$382.24 per 1 000 cubic meters of gas, down 3.69% compared with the fourth quarter of 2011, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from SA Moldovagaz. According to the communiqué, given the calorific burning power of the natural gas, the price is US$387 per 1 000 cubic meters. It is set in accordance with the contract for the supply of gas for 2007-2011, which was signed by Gazprom and Moldovagaz. The contract was extended until March 31, 2012 with the consent of the sides. Under the contract, the price of the gas supplied to Moldova is calculated yearly based on the selling price of gas set by Gazprom for the counties of Western Europe and Turkey and the evolution of the prices of oil products over the last nine months before the next quarter. The price of 1 000 cubic meters of gas in the first quarter of 2011 was US$292.88, in the second quarter – US$321.71, in the third quarter – US$368.39, while in the fourth quarter – US$402.27.
