The price of gasoline is approaching 31 lei/liter. For the next three days, the National Agency for Energy Regulation set the price ceiling for diesel fuel at 30.91 lei/liter, up 0.51 lei on Friday. The price ceiling for gasoline COR 95 is 33.55 lei, up 0.32 lei on today, IPN reports.
The Agency made reference to the unprecedented increase in fuel prices on international stock exchanges. “During the last session alone, the price of a tonne of gasoline grew by 41 $/tonne to a new record of almost 1,500 $/tonne. In the case of diesel fuel, the rise was of 42 $/tonne, the price rising to a new record high of 1,370 $/tonne,” said the institution.
According to it, the record quotations for oil products confirm the forecasts of the head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, who told Germany’s Spiegel that Europe could face fuel shortages this summer due to squeezed oil markets. “When the main holiday season starts in Europe and the U.S., fuel demand will rise. Then we could see shortages: for example with diesel, petrol or kerosene, particularly in Europe,” Birol stated.
