Pressure is exerted in investigation of cases against Plahotniuc, Veaceslav Platon

Businessman Veaceslav Platon said he is the main witness in the three cases started against the former Democratic leader Plahotnic. During the investigation, Ilan Shor and the former Democratic heavyweight tried to bribe a number of persons, made threats and attempted to influence witnesses and to destroy evidence, IPN reports.

“There is wild resistance. You don’t imagine what those prosecutors and the administration of the Prosecutor General’s Office experienced. There is pressure. There is sabotage. You will not believe me if I relate you this in ordinary conditions,” Veaceslav Platon stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

Even if he didn’t sign a statement by which to pledge not to reveal information in the cases started against Vladimir Plahotniuc, Veaceslav Platon said he bound by law and cannot make revelations as he could prejudice the investigation.

He noted that being one of the main witnesses in the cases against Vlad Plahotniuc, he had been interrogated for ten hours.

“I was interrogated twice during five hours each time. The prosecutor general, a deputy prosecutor, three prosecutors of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and two representatives of the National Anticorruption Center interrogated me. I provided comprehensive information about the schemes related to the bank fraud, how the theft was committed, how they hid everything and what traces they left,” added Platon.

Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo on May 18 announced that Vladimir Plahotniuc is one of the main beneficiaries of the bank fraud and that the case against Veaceslav Platon was fully fabricated and a procedure for reviewing his sentence will be initiated.
