President’s spokesman resigns

Vlad Turcanu, the spokesman for President Nicolae Timofti, announced he decided to tender his resignation after the Filip Government was sworn in at a closed and secret ceremony. This told a news conference that he decided to resign because he unintentionally misled the mass media about the swearing in ceremony, IPN reports.

“I made statements for three TV channels concerning the postponement of the swearing in ceremony. This was the official position by 10pm. As you know, it was later decided that the ceremony will be held in the evening of January 20. I didn’t know about the new changes and misinformed, which is something nondemocratic,” said the President’s spokesman.

Vlad Turcanu thanked everyone for cooperation and said that he is to hand in his resignation.

This had held the post of spokesman for the head of state since 2012, when Nicolae Timofti was chosen as President.
