President's reaction to Transnistrian protests: We understand the grievances, but the source of these problems must be sought in Tiraspol

President Maia Sandu has always emphasized that the government takes care of all Moldovan citizens, regardless of which side of the Dniester they are on. This is the reaction of presidential spokesman Igor Zaharov to protests organized today in the Transnistrian region.

"They are all part of this country and the concern for their well-being is sincere. We understand people's grievances. They are justified in the context of the current difficulties, but the source of these problems should be sought in Tiraspol, not in Chisinau," said Igor Zaharov.

Transnistrian residents protested this morning, accusing Chisinau of blocking the region's access to gas. They carried the flags of Russia, and the self-proclaimed Moldovan republic of Transnistria, as well as placards reading: "No genocide against the Transnistrian people" and "Transnistria - independent state".

According to presidential spokesman Igor Zaharov, Chisinau has proposed concrete solutions to get light and heat into people's homes as soon as possible, but the Tiraspol regime continues to reject any form of support from Chisinau, including humanitarian aid.
