President’s portrait: honest, patient and respectful towards people
Honest, patient and respectful towards other people, without personal interests, smart, intelligent and from the people. These are the qualities that citizens would most appreciate in President, according to the data from a poll done by CBS-AXA, reports Info-Prim Neo.
41% of the respondents think that the President must be honest; patient and respectful towards people – 34%; without personal interests – 28%; smart and intelligent – 25%. “This would be the portrait of the president of Moldova. He may be not the smartest fellow, but he must be honest”, remarked Ion Jigau, CBS-AXA director.
75.3% of the respondents believe that in order to avoid potential political crises the Constitution must be amended, so that the President may be chosen directly by the people. 11% believe that the President should be elected by the Parliament, but with a smaller number of votes than at present. 5.9% believe that there should parliamentary elections, so that only one party can obtain the majority of votes in the Parliament, and 3.2% think that the PLDM should leave the AIE and form a new alliance with the PCRM, in order to have the majority of votes in the Parliament.
The poll was conducted between July 6 and 15, 2012. The sample represents the adult population of Moldova, with a ±3% margin of error. 1,228 people from 91 settlements were questioned.
