The Transnistrian settlement process requires the devotion of common attention and maintaining of a permanent dialogue with the administration in Tiraspol, President Igor Dodon stated in a meeting with the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselski that was held at the residence in Condrița on September 6, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, the two discussed methods of implementing the “Package of Eight” agreed at the start of 2017. Agreements on six of the eight points were practically agreed and concrete steps were taken to solve the problems faced by the inhabitants and business entities on both sides of the Nistru.
Igor Dodon said in the discussions the sides managed to draw their positions much closer so as to work out approaches and implement these later. He agreed with the necessity of continuing an open dialog that would contribute to building confidence between the inhabitants from both sides of the Nistru.
President Dodon noted he reiterated the importance of the peacekeeping operations as a guarantee of peace and security of citizens. They agreed simultaneous steps so as not to allow the situation in the Security Zone to worsen, which could affect peace and stability not only in Moldova, but in the region in general.
Igor Dodon also said that he suggested supporting, by concerted effort, the work of public organizations, associations and initiatives that aim to overcome the existing contradictions and divergences related to problems of social importance. The two expressed their readiness to fully implement the concluded agreements, continuing the development of the dialogue for making use of new opportunities.
