The Constitutional Court Monday validated the results of the March 16 presidential elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. The elected President Nicolae Timofti said he will respect the provisions of the Constitution and the AEI agreement and will give priority to none of the parties, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I wanted to bring peace in the country,” stated Nicolae Timofti. Deputy Head of Parliament Vlad Plahotniuc said holding the investiture of the President as soon as possible was in everyone’s interest. “It’s time for the political instability to be replaced by the revitalization of the initiated reforms,” he said. As to the buildings for the President, the issue will be included in the agenda of the meeting of the AEI Council that will take place before the investiture, mot probably this Friday. “The presidency is held by the Liberal Party. Thus, we will make a request in this respect,” said Vlad Plahotniuc. Communist MP Artur Reshetnikov said the validation of the elections was an act of the play staged by the usurpers of the power. “No country in the world holds elections with white ballots. The leaders of the alliance confirmed that democracy and equity are not among their priorities. We argued our position by the fact that the Parliament is illegitimate as it used up all the chances of electing the head of state. We will continue the consultations with society and will prepare for the second Civic Congress,” he stated. Nicolae Timofti was elected President of Moldova by the votes of 62 of the 101 lawmakers. The Communist MPs did not take part in the voting. The investiture will take place in Parliament in the presence of the judges of the Constitutional Court and ambassadors working in Chisinau. The Constitutional Court’s decision is definitive, came into force after passed and will be published in the Official Gazette.
