Presidential Building started to be repaired with Turkish Government’s support

The works to repair the Presidential Building in Chisinau with the 10 million in financing announced by the Government of Turkey have started and are to be completed in summer. The inauguration ceremony was scheduled for August 27, when the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to pay a visit to Chisinau, IPN reports.

On the occasion of the official launch of the works on February 22, President Igor Dodon said the assistance offered by the Turkish partners is disinterested and these imposed no conditions. The allocated money will fully cover the repair and furnishings costs.

Former Ambassador of Turkey to Moldova Hulusi Kiliç said that when the repair works are completed, the Presidential Building will be the most beautiful one in Chisinau and all those involved in the project will be proud of the done work.

The project is coordinated by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency and the works will be carried out by Sonbay company. About 60 persons who are mainly Moldovans are working now at the building site, but the figure will be increased to approximately 200.

Also today, Igor Dodon signed a decree by which he conferred the Order of Honor on Hulusi Kiliç.

The Presidential Building was damaged during the protests of April 2009.
