Ruslan Flocea, currently general secretary of the President’s Office, has been designated as the winner of a contest held to fill the vacant post of National Anticorruption Center (CNA) director.
After deliberating behind closed doors, Parliament’s Legal Commission issued a press release to announce that Flocea accumulated the best score in the selection process.
Ruslan Flocea has been a public servant for the last 18 years. He started at the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption, the predecessor of CNA. Flocea worked there for 11 years, an experience which, he argues, enabled him to become familiar in detail with the challenges of the Center’s work and develop a vision.
Ruslan Flocea named ensuring CNA’s independence and depoliticization to be among his priorities. He also said he will make sure that everyone is treated equally, as nobody can be above the law.
Flocea was selected from among nine contestants. Cristina Țarnă, former CNA deputy director, came in second.
Flocea’s designation is subject to confirmation in Parliament.
