President wants the Military Institute to intensify cooperation with NATO

The Military Institute of the Armed Forces “Alexandru Cel Bun” should take example from the similar institutions from other countries and establish a solid relationship with NATO’s Consortium of Defence Academies and Security Studies Institutes, President Vladimir Voronin stated during a roundtable meeting on the modernisation of the Military Institute of the Armed Forces. The President reminded that during his visit to Brussels in July, he agreed with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer that Moldova, in particular the Military Institute, would benefit from technical support. Vladimir Voronin pointed out that, following NATO’s recommendations and estimations of the country’s need of military personnel, the authorities are to come up with a plan of actions to modernise the studies and endow the military education institutions with the necessary equipment. The President also stressed that after the modernisation process the military institute should ensure that the graduates get broader knowledge so as to make them fit for civil tasks too.
