President Voronin will meet with his Russian counterpart for the third time this month
Moldova’s President Vladimir Voronin will pay a visit on Saturday, June 30, to Rostov-on-Don, where he will take part in the unofficial meeting of the CIS heads of state. The presidential press service provides no other details about the visit.
This will be the third meeting between the Moldovan and Russian presidents to take place this month. Voronin had a bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin during the works of the informal CIS summit held in St. Petersburg. The discussion focused on the development of the Moldova-Russia relations in diverse areas, prospects for the Transnistria settlement, and resuming of Moldovan wine exports to Russia.
Another meeting took place on June 22, at the Russian president’s residence in Novo-Ogarevo. According to a communiqué released by the Moldovan presidential press unit, the two heads of state discussed in detail the entire bilateral agenda, from joint projects in the energy sector and agro-industry to special investment programmes implemented in Moldova. Particular attention was paid to the recently launched process of resuming wine and cognac exports to the Russian market. In addition, the collocutors examined the Transnistria issue, mentioning the need for resuming negotiations.
