The President of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin considers that “it is very important that corruption is observed not only by the authorities of the country but also by the whole society”. A statement in this respect was made by the head of state at the opening of the International Conference “Progresses and perspectives in fighting corruption”, - Info-Prim Neo reports. Voronin said in his speech that poor successes were noted in Moldova in what concerns the elimination of corruption. This phenomenon is still present in the administrative, legal and political systems, in the public and religious organizations, medical and educational institutions, the head of state mentioned. Also, the President said that preventing and combating corruption had not become a constant concern of each leader of state structures. In this context, Vladmir Voronin emphasized the fact that all the leaders of central and local authorities should draw up and implement concrete and efficient internal control measures in order to prevent corruption. This measure is necessary in light of the fact the “hot lines” installed in the state institutions are not efficient: not a single minister or another leader did not find out any corruption cases in the institutions they lead. The head of state reiterated the acute need for combating corruption in every field or activity and first of all among the statesmen – leaders of central bodies, including ministers and local public bodies. According to the head of state, it is necessary to draw up and strictly respect the deontological codes for each field of public life. According to the cited source, the president has firmly pleaded in favour of clearly separating business from the state bodies, underlining that this fact refers to the all types of leaders. The conference “Progresses and perspectives in fighting corruption” was organized by the Centre for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption in partnership with the Council of Europe and the Swiss International Development Agency.
