President Voronin is spending his holiday with monks on the Holy Mountain
President of Republic of Moldova Vladimir Voronin is on vacation since Wednesday, august 9.
Accordind to the Press Service of the Presidency, the head of state is going to spend his holiday in Greece, in a locality next to Athos Mountain. During his vacation, Vladimir Voronin is going to visit the Vatopedi Monastery located on the Holy Mountain. The president will meet some Greek authorities as well.
The head of state will return from vacation on August 21.
The first visit of Vladimir Voronin on Athos Mountain took place in May 2004. On this occasion, the Press Service of the Presidency publicized a press release saying that “it is the second time in history that a high-ranking official of the Moldovan government visits the Athos Mountain. The first visit of the Holy Mountain was carried out by Stefan the Great in 1502, a year before his death”.
On April 5, 2006, Vladimir Voronin took a few extra days off, effectuating, according to another press release of the above-mentioned Press Service, “a private visit in People’s Republic of China, honoring the invitation of the head of government of this country”.
