President to discuss in Brussels on facilitating visa regime for Moldovans
The President of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, pays, on June 21-22, a visit to Brussels, Belgium, having several meetings with officials of European institutions, NATO and Belgium.
According to a report of the presidential staff, on Wednesday, June 21, the head of state will meet Mariann Fischer Boel, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Franco Frattini, the vice-president of the European Commission, Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security, and Andris Piebalgs, Energy Commissioner.
On Thursday, June 22, he will meet Alessandro Minuto Rizzo, NATO deputy general secretary, and Jose Happard, the chairman of the Parliament of Valon.
In Brussels, Vladimir Voronin will meet as well with Javier Solana, General Secretary of the Council of EU, with Jacek Saryuz-Wolski, the Vice-Chairman of the European Parliament, and with Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy.
The head of ttate comes back in Chisinau in the evening of June22.
According to the previous statement of the foreign minister, Andrei Stratan, during his visit, the head of the state will continue the discussions on facilitating the visa regime for Moldovan citizens to EU.
On June 7, in Brussels, it was organized the first discussion round of the experts of RM and European Commission on the possibilities to facilitate the visa regime for RM citizens. During the discussions with the European experts, RM delegation requested EC support and the member states in for providing the mandate for starting negotiations on the agreements facilitating visa regime and re-admission RM-EU for 2006.
