President Igor Dodon signed a decree by which he ordered to suspend the Government decision on the participation by a National Army contingent in training in Ukraine that was published in a special edition of the Official Gazette, IPN reports.

“At night, even after midnight, they published the illegal Government decision on the participation by representatives of the National Army in military exercises in Ukraine in the Official Gazette. They got used to taking decisions at night. We reiterate that the participation by Moldovan services members in exercises in these circumstances is against the constitutional provisions and other laws of the Republic of Moldova,” the President’s spokesman Ion Ceban wrote on a social networking site.

According to him, the Government decision was suspended immediately after it was published. “We, regrettably, had to do it also at midnight and the decision will remain in force until the Constitutional Court passes a definitive judgment. Early in the morning, the President ordered to carry out an inspection at military units and to thoroughly examine the situation there, including the presence or absence of services members, and to take the required decisions, in accordance with the law, including relegation in military ranks,” said Ion Ceban.

On September 5, President Igor Dodon requested the Ministry of Defense to stop the preparations for the participation by 57 National Army soldiers in the Rapid Trident exercise that will be held at the Yavoriv Combat Training Center in Ukraine. The next day, the Government assumed responsibility for the service members’ participation in the training in Ukraine. The September 6 Government decision took effect the same day, following its publication in a special edition of the Official Gazette.
