President Maia Sandu submitted a bill to amend the Execution Code as a legislative initiative to Parliament. The bill is aimed at protecting the people who have debts and who are in an unfavorable financial situation from abusive evictions from the own homes in particular situations of risk, IPN reports.
According to Maia Sandu, the normative framework should be improved so that the citizens are not deprived of homes in winter, in emergencies, in particular for a small debt. These changes will introduce a protection mechanism when the debtor and the family members of this have only one domicile so as to avoid the situation when the people are left without a place to stay and shelter.
“The Constitution of the Republic of Moldova provides that the state is obliged to take measures for any person to have decent living conditions. Therefore, the actions taken by the authorities of the state should not encroach upon this right and should ensure the people’s health and welfare,” said President Sandu.
