President Igor Dodon signed the decree to appoint Victoria Iftodi as minister of justice. The decree was signed as a result of a meeting that involved President Dodon, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Victoria Iftodi on March 19, IPN reports.
“I have known personally Missis Iftodi for a long period of time. I think she is one of the few persons recommended by the parliamentary majority for the post of minister who meet the integrity criteria. I hope this person will assert herself and will promote the reforms needed in justice. I discussed in detail the necessity of doing real reforms in the justice sector,” said Igor Dodon.
Victoria Iftodi is the first minister named to post by decree by President Igor Dodon. So far he rejected all the candidates who were proposed in the Filip Cabinet. Six ministers and two deputy prime ministers were appointed by decrees signed by Parliament Speaker Adrian Candu, who held office of President on an interim basis.
