President Maia Sandu has welcomed the Japanese Government’s decision to provide US$100 million to the Republic of Moldova in budget support. In a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan in Chisinau Yamada Yoichiro, President Sandu said that Japan is one of the most important development partners of the country, which in time has offered assistance for different sectors, IPN reports.
“At the end of last week, the Ambassador of Japan in Chisinau Yamada Yoichiro informed me about the Japanese Government’s decision to provide US$100 million to our country in budget support and this thing was announced by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in the G7 summit. This support will increase the financial resources of the state at a time when our economy and also the amounts accumulated into the budget are affected by the war in Ukraine,” stated Maia Sandu.
The official noted that Japan is one of the most important development partners of the Republic of Moldova, which in time contributed to equipping the hospitals with modern medical equipment, helped Moldovan farmers to purchase modern agricultural machinery and apply new technologies, financed support programs for SMEs and supported cultural and educational projects.
“I thanked the ambassador for the excellent bilateral cooperation and for the continuous assistance and voiced hope that we will also manage to increase the volume of Japanese investments in the Republic of Moldova and to this way raise the number of well-paid jobs at home,” said President Sandu.
