President Maia Sandu submitted to Parliament a bill that enables to implement the extended confiscation of property accumulated by acts of corruption, IPN reports.
“The current law contains an obstacle that hampers the procedure for confiscating the property of those who enriched themselves illegally and enables them to keep their assets. De facto, they remain in the possession of property by transferring it to third persons. The bill proposed to Parliament will remove this shortcoming,” President Sandu posted on her Facebook page.
According to the official, the efforts to improve the legislative norms concerning corruption fighting will be continued. “We will continue the efforts to reform the justice sector for the legal norms to be implemented with regard to everyone, without exception,” said Maia Sandu.
