President Sandu discusses situation in Moldova with EU ambassadors

President Maia Sandu had a meeting with ambassadors of the EU member states in the Republic of Moldova. The official said that she spoke about her concerns related to the energy sector and the rise in prices that have negative effects on the population and the economy. Despite the difficult situation, she reiterated the authorities’ determination to continue the reforms in the economy and the justice sector, IPN reports.

“I thanked the EU member states for the assistance from which we benefited from them during the last three months for managing the flow of refugees from the neighboring country and for the European support announced for Moldova in the conference held in Berlin on April 5,” said Maia Sandu, being quoted in a press release.

President Sandu and the ambassadors discussed the current situation in the Republic of Moldova and the region, which was powerfully influenced by the economic and security problems generated by the war in Ukraine.

“I also said that despite the difficult situation, we are determined to continue the reforms in the economy and the justice sector, to ensure energy independence and to strengthen the state institutions, to maintain democracy and to follow the country’s European course. The European integration is our goal to which all our efforts are aimed. We want to convince the European institutions of the seriousness with which we treat this process and to anchor the Republic of Moldova in the space of values and the political and economic space of the European Union. It is the most important signal of hope that our country and our citizens need now,” stated the official.
