President Sandu discusses cooperation with new WB country manager

President Maia Sandu has agreed with the World Bank to boost activities related to infrastructure projects, which are the most expected by the people, the President’s Office said in a press release following Maia Sandu’s meeting with Inguna Dobraja, the new World Bank country manager.

During the meeting, Maia Sandu stressed that the new Moldovan government has a program aimed at achieving a quality transformation of Moldova and development partners are invited to support the authorities in this endeavor.

“The World Bank is willing to continue providing assistance to the Republic of Moldova, and a new partnership framework will be developed in the near future. Among the areas of mutual interest where we rely on the support of the World Bank, we mentioned agriculture, energy, environment, but also the social protection system, health and digitalization”, said Maia Sandu.

To make the cooperation between Moldova and the World Bank more efficient, the officials agreed that there is a need to strengthen the implementation capacities of the ongoing and new projects. “This will allow us to ensure the completion of all works within the established deadlines. Also, we agreed to boost the activities aimed related to infrastructure projects, which are the most expected by citizens,” the president added.
