Following the drone crashes in the south of the country, President Maia Sandu said that what is happening is serious. According to her, it is equally serious that some of the politicians betray their country saying that we should not even be able to defend ourselves, that Moldova should remain weak and vulnerable in the face of such threats, IPN reports.
"The Republic of Moldova has not attacked anyone. We have not claimed any foreign territory; we have not entered into conflict with any other state; we have enshrined neutrality in the Constitution. The Republic of Moldova has promoted and done everything for peace. However, Russian drones and bombs are falling and exploding in our villages. And we must admit that we do not have the necessary capably to defend ourselves from them," said the head of state.
The official noted that the Republic of Moldova will continue to develop partnerships with European countries and modernize its National Army so that one day it becomes a state that fully ensures the security of its citizens.
"Genuine neutrality means being able to defend ourselves against the bombs of an aggressor state, which reach our territory," said Maia Sandu.
A number of drones crossed the territory of the Republic of Moldova last night, following a massive attack on the Reni Seaport in Ukraine. One of them fell and exploded on an agricultural field near the village of Ciumai in Taraclia district, and another one exploded on a field located between Ceadar Lunga town and Valea Perjei village.
In this connection, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to urgently summon the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau Oleg Ozerov to request official explanations and to express firm protest against such unacceptable actions.
