President Vladimir Voronin proposes the creation of a department within the City Hall that would be charged with the coordination of all actions related to the modernisation of the Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard. The head of state says the creation of such a subdivision is necessary due to the strategic character of this street for Chisinau. Voronin launched this proposal at a meeting on social-economic development of the municipality of Chisinau. According to a press release from the Presidency, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, among the priorities set for 2007 are the reconstruction of the amusement zone “Valea Morilor”, designing and reconstructing the Republican Stadium, and building a waste disposal plant. Also, the head of state asked to intensify the process of building houses using the mortgage method, as well as the actions related to the renovation of the existent apartment blocks. It was also discussed the importance of accelerating the process of constructing gas supply networks, reconstruction of wastewater collection and water pipes. Referring to the tasks outlined in the Development Programme of the municipality of Chisinau for 2007, Vladimir Voronin requested the local authorities to draw up a an action plan within 2 weeks.
