The progress and delays witnessed by Moldova in the reformation and European integration processes were discussed in a meeting of Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu and the president of the German-Moldovan Forum of Germany’s Bundestag Fritz Felgentreu, IPN reports.
According to the legislature’s press service, in particular the officials discussed the sociopolitical and economic developments in the country and the reforms done by Moldova in the justice sector, the fight against corruption, the situation in the banking sector, the creation of an attractive business and investment climate, and the projects implemented in the energy sector.
“The reform agenda that we implement and the commitments that the Government and Parliament assumed by the roadmap are designed to bring stability to the country and to restore the people’s and development partners’ confidence. We are ready to show, by concrete actions, that we can improve things. The resumption of the discussions with the IMF and the negotiation of a new accord for Moldova are among the government’s priorities,” stated Andrian Candu.
He also spoke about the package of laws passed recently by Parliament in a move to strengthen the democratic institutions, saying the reform of the prosecution service will be completed, including by amending the Constitution. The authorities are waiting for the recommendations of the EU mission of justice experts for implementing them. “The experts already compiled several reports. We are waiting for the others so as to have a clear picture of the situation at all the monitored institutions,” said the Speaker.
Fritz Felgentreu encouraged the continuation of reforms in Moldova and welcomed the measures defined in the priority reform action roadmap signed by Parliament and the Government. He said he would like to see the positive effects of the initiated reforms and of the roadmap during his next visits to Moldova.
