Today, the President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits contacted the President-elect of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu to congratulate her on the successful elections, IPN reports.
Egils Levits and Maia Sandu discussed relations between Moldova and the European Union. The President of Latvia emphasized that Latvia is and has always been ready to share the experience of European integration with Moldova and to support it in the reform process. Officials discussed the issue on real opportunities to promote the rule of law in practice.
Maia Sandu presented her views on the general political situation in Moldova, as well as on the current situation in Transnistria.
The two sides agreed to meet as soon as possible after the pandemic in order to further maintain close bilateral relations between both countries and the EU Eastern Partnership dialogue.
