President goes on short leave, government modifies decision on rest days, a part of public institutions work as usual, people continue to celebrate

From Thursday, January 3, the President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin will be on leave. He will be holidaying in Austria, the presidential press service announced, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. In a press release issued at the end of last year, the Government announced that it modified its own decision regarding the non-working days in December 2007 and in January-March 2008. Thus, December 31, 2007 and January 2, 3 and 4, 2008 are rest days, while December 29, 2007, January 26, 2008, February 16, 2008 and March 29, 2008 are working days. The working day of March 15 was replaced by March 29, 2008. The medico-sanitary institutions of Moldova will continue working according to the ordinary timetable. The healthcare institutions must work during holidays as the number of appeals to them increases in the given period, especially because the gastrointestinal diseases become more severe, a press release from the Ministry of Health says. The current vacation became the longest one for the Moldovan population after the Government declared the days of January 7 and 8, when Christmas is celebrated according to the old calendar, as rest days.
