President-elect Maia Sandu was invited to make a visit to Poland during a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, IPN reports.
The Embassy of Poland in Chisinau in a press release said the discussion centered on the intensification and strengthening of mutual relations at bilateral level and also at European level.
Andrzej Duda underlined Poland’s support for the pro-Western direction of the Republic of Moldova’s policy, which enjoys the clear support of the majority of the population.
President Duda also drew attention to the presence of the Polish national minority in the Republic of Moldova and to its necessities.
In a posting on Facebook, Maia Sandu said she thanked the Polish President for the congratulations sent on the occasion of her victory and for the support offered by Poland to the Republic of Moldova. The interlocutors also discussed the key priorities for the immediate period.
“Poland has always been an important partner for Moldova. President Andrzej Duda assured me of Poland’s assistance in strengthening democracy and in our European course. We discussed the solid mandate offered by the people for fighting corruption. This way we will bring Moldova closer to the European Union and will make it stronger,” stated the President-elect.
