President Igor Dodon met today with United States Ambassador James D. Pettit and expressed his opennes to pay an official or working visit to the U.S. at the earliest opportunity, the President’s Office said in a press release.
As concerns the recent law to sell the land that once held the National Stadium for a new U.S. Embassy in Chisinau, president Dodon said he would not promulgate it as long as it does not have public support. The president suggested that the Embassy should revisit the subject after the legislative elections.
“We have proposed that, together with our American partners, a park or a cultural establishment be built (instead), which will be appreciated by both Chisinau’s residents and the entire Moldovan people”, reads the press release.
