President Dodon to visit Turkey and Russia by end-October

President Igor Dodon will make a visit to Turkey on October 29, when it is celebrated the National Day of Turkey, and will also pay an official visit to the Russian Federation on October 31. The announcement was made in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon said he was invited to visit Turkey during President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the Republic of Moldova. “We will continue to cooperate with Turkey. President Erdogan invited me to take part in the inauguration of one of the largest airports of the word, in Istanbul, on October 29, on the National Day of Turkey,” he stated.

President Dodon said his visit will take place immediately after Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of France Emmanuel Macron. He had a request to Turkey’s President as the his meeting with the three leaders and he will discuss this while he will be in Turkey. 

As to his official visit to Russia, Igor Dodon said he will meet with President Vladimir Putin. His team will also have meetings with representatives of the State Duma of Russia. He could discuss the liberalization of the export of particular Moldovan goods and the problem of migrants in his meeting with President Dodon.

Igor Dodon will also visit Paris on November 10-11, when a summit devoted to the end of World War I will be held and will be attended by world leaders. In the nearest future, he will have meetings with the administration of Austria.

President Dodon noted that in his visits he presents the Presidential Office’s position on the most important domestic and foreign policy issues and on the Transnistrian settlement to the main foreign partners.
