President Dodon to inspect Bulboaca shooting range

Moldovan President Igor Dodon is expected today to visit the Bulboaca shooting range amid concerns of U.S. involvement in its renovation. The visit was announced on the president’s official FB account, but the presidential press service hasn’t yet confirmed it, IPN reports.

“Lately there have been a lot of discussions about the shooting range in Bulboaca, about the Americans’ involvement and the funding coming from the U.S. As commander-in-chief of the armed forces, I will make a visit there on Monday to see the situation on the ground. We must not forget that we are a neutral state and I shall not allow Moldovan soldiers to take part or be used as parts in the machinery of some military bloc, be it from the West or from the East”, wrote Igor Dodon.

Earlier the Ministry of Defense said in a press release that Col. Eduard Ohladciuc, deputy chief of the National Army Staff, visited the Bulboaca range together with U.S. Ambassador James Pettit in order to take stock of the progress made towards modernizing the facility, which is done as part of a $1.5 million project funded by the U.S. Government.
