President Igor Dodon said the Russian Federation was, is and will remain Moldova’s strategic partner and the economic cooperation is the most important component of the Moldovan-Russian strategic partnership. In the Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum held in Chisinau, the President said he will submit an initiative to create a Moldovan-Russian Development Fund that would support common business projects, IPN reports.
According to President Dodon, Moldova should become a member of the Eurasian Development Bank whose investment portfolio currently stands at US$ 3 billion, but totals US$ 7 billion together with the implemented projects.
“I know that you today not only exchanged opinions and contacts, but also considered possibilities of putting concrete projects into practice. I’m glad to inform you that a series of business agreements will be signed at the end of the forum. The Republic of Moldova needs new promising projects that will involve businesses from Russia and Russian investors,” stated Igor Dodon.
Russia’s Ambassador in Chisinau Oleg Vasnetsov transmitted the message of the Russian President’s special representative for the development of commercial-economic relations with Moldova, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak. The message says the Russian Federation highly appreciates the relations with the Republic of Moldova, which are based on long-lasting relations of friendship. The Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum is an excellent platform for submitting proposals that would place the Moldovan-Economic relations on an upward trend and would eliminate the exiting barriers.
Boris Titov, presidential commissioner for entrepreneurs’ rights of Russia, said the participants in the forum represent the light industry, banks, tourism, gastronomy and other sectors. The organizers managed to stimulate the Russian businesspeople’s interest.
Andrei Nazarov, co-president of the public organization “Business Russia” and co-chairman of the Moldovan-Russian Economic Council, said the Russian business community can annually invest about US$ 1 billion in different sectors in Moldova through investment projects. For the Russian businesspeople to come to Moldova for a long period of time, a number of conditions should be met, such as to ensure political stability and to adjust the legal framework to the legislation of the Eurasian area so that this protects the business sector.
The Moldovan-Russian Economic Forum is held in Chisinau during September 20-22.
