President Igor Dodon sent a letter to Prime Minister Pavel Filip by which he informed that he does not accept the two candidates for minister of health, labor and social protection and for minister of agriculture, regional development and environment that were proposed by the Democratic Party, IPN reports.
The President explained the main argument for the refusal to name Silvia Radu as minister of health is the fact that the candidate should have professional qualities related to the field. “I think everyone should deal with what they know best. One should know what paracetamol and aspirin are and make a difference between them,” he said.
As to the candidate for minister of agriculture Nicolae Ciubuc, President Dodon said he learned from agricultural producers that this person has serious integrity related problems.
Furthermore, Igor Dodon considers the two persons were proposed for these posts so as to later field them as candidates in the election campaign. “I think it is an action aimed at preparing the participation in some of the single-member constituencies in the parliamentary elections,” he said.
In reply, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the President’s refusal to accept the two candidates for minister is a new violation of the Constitution, the refusal being argued ridiculously and in a populist way. “Regrettably, the Republic of Moldova has a President who often violates the Constitution, depending on his political interests, and who annuls by himself the institutional role he should play. We will go again to the Constitutional Court and ask that this institutional blockage that the President is trying to provoke be solved,” stated the Premier.
