President Igor Dodon is refusing to formally accept the Cabinet members proposed earlier this week by the leadership of the governing Democratic Party.
The president wrote on his FB account that, according to the Constitutional Code case-law and the provisions of the Government Law, Cabinet reshuffles are a Parliament prerogative.
Igor Dodon has further argued that he cannot accept the appointees because they “demonstrated inconsistency and lack of professionalism” in their previous official posts. “A number of candidates have integrity issues and, more importantly, some of them were personally involved in the bank fraud by participating in taking the decisions that ultimately led to money being siphoned off from the Moldovan banking system” wrote Igor Dodon.
The president however on Thursday did sign the decrees to accept the resignation of the six outgoing Cabinet members.
