President Dodon ready to support government where PAS and PPPDA will play more important role

President Igor Dodon said that he is ready to support both the current government and another government where the Party of Action and Solidarity and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” will play a more important role, if these parties really feel ready to assume responsibly for managing the current sanitary and economic crisis. But the Government and Parliament can work efficiently also in the absence of a formalized political majority as the anti-oligarchic parties can agree the bills that are in the people’s interests and should be supported.

The statement was made after one more MP left the Democratic group and the government coalition formed by the Socialists and the Democrats thus remained with 50 MPs out of the 101 MPs, IPN reports.

According to Igor Dodon, the absence of a sufficient number of votes in the current parliamentary majority does not yet mean a political crisis and destabilization. “I think the biggest challenge for the healthy political forces present in Parliament is another one – not to allow the Plahotniuc-Shor-Candu oligarchic group to take again control over the power and to capture again the country. Today everyone realizes that the turncoats are the persons of Plahotniuc and Shor who were bought with stolen bank funds and any coalition with them or with the Candu-Shor groups means a coalition with the interests and scenarios of Plahotniuc,” he stated.

President Dodon noted that to fully thwart the plans of Plahotniuc and Shor, the Party of Socialists, the Party of Action and Solidarity, the Democratic Party and the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” should behave politically responsibly. They should look together for the best solutions so that chaos and anarchy are not established in Parliament.

“As the President, I will offer overall support to the anti-oligarchic parties, as I did a year ago, and will back any solution that can ensure the country’s stability and the people’s security. I will oppose any political construct that could be agreed together with the parties of Shor and Plahotniuc, with their bought turncoats, with those who are accused of involvement in the bank fraud and other swindles that impoverished the people,” noted the official.

He also said that given the announced wish of the PAS to have snap parliamentary elections, he could support such a proposal if progress is made in putting it into practice and if there is certainty that such a solution is in the people’s interests.

According to President Dodon, there are a number of solutions by which the crisis can be overcome in the people’s interests, but everything depends on the dialogue that should take place between the anti-oligarchic parties. The next few days, he will initiate common or separate discussions with the anti-oligarchic parliamentary parties.
